How do you check the balance on a blade with a 5 star center hole?

Very hard to do without a balancer made for lawn mower shops, if you went by your local shop, they could balance it for you fairly
cheaply, if they had one, but not that many do.

You can use a regular metal cone balancer and there cheap. I used a cone on my LT 1045 CC, it was a five star.

That is what I use also but its a little on the tricky side and also make me wonder how true it is?

Yeah, the magna matics pull the blade tight against the magnet face which is perpendicular/square/etc....

Balancer is the best option, but a 3/4" or 15/16" taper pin "bull pin" would allow you to check that blade if you have one of them at home.

That is what I use also but its a little on the tricky side and also make me wonder how true it is?

I also used a cone balancer on my Craftsman(made by Husqvarna) lawn tractor that had star hole blades and it worked fine. Never had any deck vibration(a clear sign of an unbalanced blade) after sharpening/balancing them.
