how bout a forum for accessories, add ons n such

Like the title says how about a chance to talk about ,ask questions about others experience in dealing with add on aftermarket stuff. Hey if this category exists, I couldn't find it. In fact there's several things hidden in sub categories. Shouldn't they all be on one page. Right there where I can see all there is to choose from. Heck I have to stumble around looking for user cp. Now most people have a computer, I have a tiny phone. Like looking at a picture through a toilet paper roll. You can't see it all at the same time.

There already is a forum for accessories and modifications:
Forum: Build-it Yourself

Mower Modifications, Customizations & Build-it Yourself
If you're looking to make your mower better than the factory intended, this is the forum for you...

Okay now this is kinda what I'm talking bout here. Build it yourself? I'm not building anything at all. I'm adding to what's already there. Now please don't think I'm trying to be a jerk here.but can't anyone here see that build it yourself, just seems a little like those people who build from scratch? You know, racing lawnmowers, or people who make what I call frankenmowers. You know where they'll take two cub cadet's, cobble them together to make an articulating tractor, just like the big earth movers? I mean we've all seen these things. Well I'm sure they have that kinda thing here. I was talking about a forum for baggers, bumpers, cup holders n stuff. But hey, I don't want to turn over the water bucket here. So I'll just mosey on over to build it yourself, keep quiet, see if it's what I'm looking for. Thanks for the info.

Yeah I do think a separate forum is a good idea!

Maybe the Forum title just needs to be relabeled to Customizations that would be a better fit for add ons, accessories, modifications and builds, like my custom chrome brush bar/bumper I installed.

Hello.....Question, Why would you want to add something you already have on the forum???? :confused2::confused2: Your Build it yourself forum description already says
Mower Modifications, Customizations & Build-it Yourself.

I was under the impression that he was going to change the title of the forum from Build it Yourself to Customizations to better reflect the description of add ons, accessories, modifications, & build it yourself topics. :confused3:

His post above said he was going to add it and I couldn't figure out why when it's already there and said so in the description.:confused3:

IMO you don't need two forums, if I did anything I'd break down the forum, have the main forum Build It Yourself and make additional sub forums for Mower Modification and another for Customizations. Other than that I'd leave things as is.

Noooooooo!!! Sub forums and such is what started this whole thing. Please don't draw us through some maze, just to get where we need to discuss similar hobbies and /or projects. My whole point, was to talk about FACTORY, OEM style improvements. Like when you add a wanna add a store bought mulch kit, or putting on a bumper, maybe adding a sun shade. I know when I had to replace my p.o.s. brand new mower tires because the OEM tires went flat from thorns on the same patch of ground I've mown for ten years with no problem. Yea all four in two weeks, they had to go. Those of you who've mounted those new, pressed flat, tires, know what I'm talking about. The first timer can encounter great difficulty. I could've used some advise. I've just now got my eyebrows grown back from the fireball, kidding of course. But IMHO, I think we could have a forum JUST for this stuff alone. Not really brand specific. But if your hobby is walkin wheelies, on a sixty horsepower machine. If your into tiny tractor pull. If your swapping ideas on a three wheel Harley mowin trike. I could give examples all day. Point is my cup holder question might be a little pedestrian. BUT if you add, or split or whatever. Its GOT to be upfront, out in the open, main menu stuff. Because people who are NOT members, DON'T know how, or where to find those sub categories. They probly all, come to this site looking for answers, solutions. Then like me decide to join. But you have to make it more intuitive, less confusing. Maybe there's not enough interest in the two topics seperately. Don't know. Maybe we should look into the matter, before making changes. I'd personally like to see a separate forum, just to have the wild bunch, the think outside the box crowd, all in one place. A place all concentrated, where I can see all these wild crazy bastards, with their off the.chain, weird, sometimes artistic, sometimes beautiful, almost always inspired, creations. To be honest, when I'm looking at that sorta stuff, I don't want to see Kenneth's stupid cigarette lighter question. I want these wild imaginations to step out, totally unfettered. So I can see some shock and awe. At work I can show the fellas, hey look at this. Without goin through a bunch of problems that probly already been solved anyhow. A single destination of pure fantasy, being brought to life.... Who's with me on this? Or is it just me?

Kenneth, I think you have good ideas. What would you recommend calling this new forum to classify it best. Add ons, mild mods, factory equipment options, custom parts or something else?

Off the top of my head, I'm thinking something straight to the point. Yet it needs to be simple, easy to see right thru. Very vanilla sort of name. Probably sounds ridiculous, but I'm thinking, "The tool chest ". Probably sounds a little hacky. Oh well it's been a long day. But I think it's important not to get too sophisticated. After all we're selling fun friendly advice, and friendship. While poking fun at one another. Not showing how clever we are. Besides I think the real fun would be on the other side of this thing. The crazy side. Aren't these forum websites advertising driven. I say jazz it up! People will want to see this crazy stuff. Then they'll know we're here. Probly increase members! If not us showcasing these lovable creative folks then who would be more likely. C'mon this is what we've trained for people. Sorry ,like I said it's been a long day I'm probably delirious. I think maybe someone needs a nap.

Straight to the point, in my opinion would be Accesssories, Add ons and Such as you titled this thread. The tool chest invokes tools for the job in my mind, not making it easier to navigate. Treasure chest (Bling) maybe closer to the point. Hairy chest or big chest probably not politically correct for the forum either!:laughing:

Sub Forums are not confusing. If set up right all you have to do is click on the main forum title and all show up on the same page so there's no trouble to finding them, and you just pick where you want to post. It wouldn't be any different than the mower forums at the top of the main page. Thing is if you had separate forums for all the mowers listed at the top of the home page your front page would have another 30 forums listed long and trying to go from the top to the bottom of the page would be a PITA. IMO if your not going to use the space available and create other pages leave it as is. It's already listed in the description anyway.

Good point Ric. My idea would be the main forum to be Customizations and Mower Modifications with the following 3 subforums of Build it Yourself, Factory Add ons, Accessories and Bling.

In reality when you open a a sub forum it's only a second page that is No different than the Home page. If he were to add those mower forums at the top of the home page to the home page you would add an additional 30 forums. Your front page would be so long from top to bottom it would be a PITA to use. Sub Forums are know harder to use, Know harder to find information on than the Home page.

Only a second page IS the problem! That and the name being slightly misleading. Part of the problem for me personally, is the device I'm using, it's a tiny phone. Kinda like inspecting the Mona Lisa up close through a toilet paper tube. Gotta work with what you have. Kinda hard to take it all in at the same time though. Opening another page seems unnecessary. After all you've got a separate category for EACH brand of mower ALL listed separate, but on the SAME page, in the SAME category. As far as the name goes, I personally think it should be straight to the point , totally transparent, and certainly not least it should be fun
After all it's about lawnmowers, not breast cancer, we're not taking on crimes against humanity. It's only lawnmowers. Some people have a tendency to take life, and themselves a little too seriously. Now I know some people make their living off these machines, however they ain't mowin and posting at the same time. I take my job very serious, but when I ain't loading trucks, I'd like to take a little break from serious. Maybe laugh a little, maybe share some knowledge, experience. Clarify the name a little, separate the category, give it a name with a little zip. Life's too short, live it with a little flair. Don't take yourself so serious. None of us are as integral to this forum, or this world as some of us like to think. Lighten up. We're talking about lawnmowers here. How can you say that with a straight face. :anyone:
