In Lower Alabama we got the hot. So far we don't have the dry yet though. Temps above 70 degrees at night with rain often makes that bahia grass hop.

We're in a severe drought here in Massachusetts and water restrictions are in place. Hardly used my mower since May. Lawns are brown, but the weeds are in good shape.

Been 45 days with temps in the 90s
Most day high 90s.
Grass is growing like crazy. I love this weather.

Heat indexes over 105 everyday here lately. Haven't seen rain in 2 weeks. Bahia is even slowing down. Hopefully some rain in the next few days.

We are almost 11 inches below average for rain. Drought, but am keeping the grass good & tall, so still pretty green here.

We got a heavy 1/2 hour of rain this eve, but most of that will likely just run off. Will help lawns a bit, probably not a deep penetration of rainfall tho. We need a long soaking rain.

We are still dodging rain here in LA (Lower Alabama). Heat index was 109 I think I heard yesterday. Humidity was overwhelming.

Hot and wet here although it has slacked off raining a little the last few days. Small shower is approaching now but it might miss me.. Baton Rouge average rainfall is about 60 inches/year. We're at 63" now. I new we had a lot of rain but this is the first time I checked the year to date values.

Still in the 90s here just west of Atlanta.
Have had hit and miss rain showers the past few days.
Grass is growing about 3 inches a week.

Finally! Since the OP, in the last 7 days, have gotten 4-5" of rain, some thunderstorms and some good soaking rains. Mow time

You may have heard about the floods in Louisiana over the last day or so. It is getting worse. I pegged an 11" rain gauge yesterday. I've measured slightly over 17" of rain since Thursday afternoon. I suspect I left 2-4 " on the table.

Massive flooding, although very local, and they are predicting a record flood on the river next to my house. The 911 call center in our parish (county) took on water and had to be moved.

Should have built an ark instead of house.

Hope your house will be all right Rhett!

It's crazy how much it can rain the South. We finally got some rain. Hopefully enough to bring back the lawns green. We've skipped a lot of yards this week.

Hey Guys & Gals,

Just got back in my office. No internet at home. Took 6" inside my house. Big mess. In the grand scheme of things we were fortunate. I have flood insurance unlike many. Many homes had water over the roof. I'll probably start another thread in "mower operation" to discuss what to do if your mower went underwater. The top of my engine was peaking out but the rest went under. Letting it dry now.

If anyone wants to help out, just contact the Red Cross and donate to them. Several thousand homeless.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

We had flooding in the spring in our area, nothing like y'all are getting down there. Hope the nightmare is over soon and everyone stays safe. I'm looking at a week of no or little work here this week .
It rained here in east Texas for 5days with rain in the forecast through next week.

This has been the wettest August I can remember here in east Texas. This time last year we were all but done mowing, as of rn I'm a week behind because of the rain.

Same here in Lower Alabama. We have been wide open and there is no end in sight. It is thundering outside right now as we speak.

Its raining here right now again. I mowed most the day but its been slow. Grass is higher than normal and soaking wet.Lucky for me most my customers aren't to picky .I literally been mowing grass tall enough to cut for hay and its wet .Next mowing over these yards going to be slow and tuff too.

Grass here still wet today as I mowed my place. Over-tall & slow going. Bright side was it really cleaned out the underside of the deck (which I do keep it very clean anyhow), I literally only had a little around the spindles.

This morning was the hardest morning ever with lawns. They were long, very wet and thick. It had rained on and off all night. Atleast we are mowing all of our lawns.

Can't wait for fall to arrive. It's been hot and humid the most of the summer.

Its raining here again tonight.Been a tuff summer but profitable. With all the wet weather we are getting the one time calls from costumer's that normally mow their own yards. since grass has gotten a bit to tall .

Been a awesome summer nice and hot with just enough rain to keep the grass growing.

I can't wait till May when it starts getting hot again.

How can you love working in the big heat?

Easy just keep working.
When the cold gets here I will not work as much. I hate the cold. You have to put layers of cloths on. Wear gloves. Then the 10 mph wind chill when your on the mower. You bones hurt

I'd much rather work when it's cool. Very humid here.

This week and last week was the period this year where the lawns growed the most. They are so long the hourly rate took a small hit. Having a hard time with clumps and clogging.

Same here past couple weeks the grass is going crazy. Sure glad all my yards are weekly.

Most of mine are weekly (85%-90%). But, they look like bi-weekly.

Grass is growing crazy here too. If I wait a full week it is tall, if I wait less I can do it quicker & looks great.

No rain in 10 days and mid 90's, my yard is quickly going from lush green to brown.

Same here in East Tennessee. I think the last significant rainfall we got was four weeks ago. Then before that it was about four weeks.

I mulched some leaves that had dried up and fell off the poplar trees in the yard about six weeks ago. My yard does not look like it has grown any. Other than those weeds that grow when it get's really dry.

I bet I have mowed less than 10 times this entire season.
