It helps to have the model number information off the machine label, so we can help you and not make wild guesses. Honda what?
If this is a self-propel/ push mower? There is typically a small inline fuel filter inserted into the tank nipple and they get restricted with fine debris and fuel resin over a period of time.
What happens is fuel will trickle through enough to fill the fuel bowl when sitting and not running.
Then when the mower is started it will run for a short time until the fuel bowl empties.
Let it sit for a while and the problem repeats.
The tiny fuel filter needs to be replaced or removed and a small inline filter installed. Do not run this without a fuel filter unless you want practice removing and cleaning the carburetor often.
