Last week during my mow, self propel stopped working. I may have heard a sound but had a ear buds in and can't recall exactly. I manually pushed the mower to finish my mow.
Nothing happened when engaging the clutch lever. Upon looking under the mower, I saw that the v-belt had slipped and was disengaged. I put it back on (I'm not sure correctly... does sit on that metal lever like I have it or should it go under to avoid contact?) and now when engaging the drive clutch lever with the rear wheels off the ground, the wheels do spin well and fast. However, they do not seem to have the power when wheels are back on the ground. Rear wheels reverse normally without locking and I've adjusted the clutch cable to make sure it is fully engaging and hasn't loosened or stretched.
I see that the belt could probably use a replacement (which I've ordered), but I also see a transmission spring of some sort that is disconnected on one end. This seems to be likely causing the problem I'm assuming? I've looked around but don't see where it should be attached. Anyone know if I'm on the right track and/or where this connects?
I've attached a couple pictures which show the v-belt placement and also the transmission spring.
