I have a Honda HRX2174VLA that was in storage due to a move. Now when I try to use the electric start the starter motor just spins but doesn't engage the flywheel. I've replaced the motor twice and have a new battery. When I take the starter off the engine I can see the gear on the starter extend then immediately retract so it doesn't engage the flywheel assembly. The motor starts easily with the manual pull cord. It would seem to work if the gear on the starter motor would stay extended.The mower is a Honda HRX2174VLA with a serial # of MAGA-2242460.
I have the same problem! New battery does not solve problem. Even connected a car battery to it and still not enough umph to push the gear high enough to engage flywheel!
