Honda HRB215 problem with mowing

Hello

I have HRB215B SXC MZBA 6015244

It mows ok for 2 or 3 feet, then stops mowing although blades are still turning

Clutch cable was replaced last year. The belt is not loose and the mower propels okay.

I am guessing that the clutch itself may be slipping. Is there anyway of testing this theory.

I dont want to replace the clutch and find out it may be something else.

Also, when I engage blade control I can move the blade by hand (it does have some resistance but not stiff resistance) and it makes a squeaky sound as I rotate the blade

Any suggestions

Thanks
Kurb

Looks like this is a belt drive, so not sure what 'clutch' you are talking about. It's either loose or cooked . . . and looks like a belt is a whopping $11.32 . . .

Either you have been slipping it a lot starting the blade *or* it started to slip and was not noticed, overheated, and died . . .

Okay, I found this info for checking the clutch wear, but it's for the HRB216 (not sure if it applies to the HRB215)

Before checking for clutch wear make sure that the blade control free play is correct. This should be 7/8 to 1 inch

For clutch wear. With the blade control lever pushed forward against the handlebar, measure the distance between the brake plate and the driven disk

The standard measure for this should be 2.0 mm. Service limit is 0.5 mm

No, clutch for HRB215 and HRB216 are different ,HRB216 using a 3 ball plate to move engage plate up and down, semilar to HR215,HR214 .
