I have a photo of my Honda GCV160's exhaust valve. I removed the spring and rocker arm because I want to know if this looks right. The valve is not stuck but it seems it should go in farther than it is. I would like to know if whats in the picture looks right. My problem is I cannot hardly pull the rope and it is stopping when the exhaust valve starts going in. Can anyone help me with this?

Do you mean the valve is not closing all the way? if the piston hit it or anything you should just take the head off to make sure everything is ok before more serious damage happens, just don't forget about your timing

Yes, the valve does not seem to be closing all the way. I showed the picture to a guy at work today and he said it looks like the engine got too hot and pushed out that piece that the valve is going into (I forgot what he called that part) He said I could be careful and try to knock it back in to where the valve will completely close but it probably wont stay that way. He said I could score it so when I knocked it back into the block it would not come back out but said it was most likely its ruined. Does that sound about right? Thanks

Valve is stuck in the open position. could be due to being bent, or like the guy said, and with the color of the oil on the cam gear, overheated and moved the valve guide. With this engine you have to remove the crankcase lower half, and pull the crankshaft, piston assembly out the bottom in order to remove the valves.

You've probably already fixed this by now but the problem you have/had is common for the GCV series. Your exhaust valve guide came out. I've seen them where they cracked the rocker arm and would about rip your arm off when you tried to crank them.
