This is great, very helpful. I inherited a couple of old mowers and am trying to find info on those. One has been patched and painted and there's not much info online about it, I'm pretty sure it's a great dane mower. The other is an AGTrac riding mower that I can find literally NO information online about at all (see avatar). Both need repair but I can't find model numbers and fear they are gone.
If you can find or post info about where to locate them for either brand that would be most helpful. Thanks.
edit: The 'AGTrac' is not a 'Turf Trac' which was made by MTD. AgTrac manufactures full size tractors but at some point made a small riding mower version. The brand name and horsepower is stamped onto the frame below the seat but that's it, no numbers(that I could find).
If there are no model numbers or serial numbers on the units, post the engine numbers. Someone might be able to check which unit they were installed in. That is if no one has swapped engines.
Hi, my name is Robert and I am new to Idaho. I bought a home with almost an acre of grass.
I’m gonna start cutting it myself and I need to learn how to take care of grass, which mower to buy, etc. etc.
I might take care of my home associations landscape too. I definitely need to know when the bag when the mulch how high to cut the grass when to start cutting all that stuff. Thank you.

good to meet a support group here, always wanna share my odd weird lawn
Now let's see how many new folks or even the existing ones take the time to read it and remember.
I have 2 riders at the moment that have Kohler engines, but they are over 20 years old, so the information labels are long gone.
All that could be done was try to locate who made the units and find out what the engine options were back then.
A lot of people do not realize that there are only a very few companies that produce many rider models under "private label" contracts and basically the only differences between some are the color and the stickers placed on them.
Why all this madness? Brand loyalty.... and that is what sells products.
