Hi People,
John from Ireland,

I am trying to get my hands on the attached Bumper fromCraftsman,
I have tried Sears, Craftsman, and every other distributer in the US and their policy is that they dont ship to Ireland, even when I tell them that a Craftsman was shipped to Ireland.

I have tried 8 distributers in Europe and I also have tried 3 companies in Australia.
Just made a few more calls to the states and no joy.

It is my first ever Tractor Lawnmower and I was so proud of it. Kinda sorry I went for it now as I cannot get parts that I want.

Is there anyone out there that may have an idea or can help me please, please.
Thanks you for reading,
John Ireland,

John Ireland,

hi john from Ireland, so then you got a new tractor with no bumper on it? odd. that,or you damaged the one that was already on the tractor, and are looking for a replacement? anyway, seeing as how the distributors and dealers can't ship for whatever reason, do you have family/friends that could buy and ship to you from wherever THEY may be from? Do you have the capabilities to make/fab one on your own, with help from locals with welders and such. Might be what you may have to do. i have no other ideas.good luck. oh wait. can you get a front bumper(different brand tractor) that is close to what you need and modify IT to fit ?

Can I ask why you need a bumper? Can't you go back to the dealer who got it shipped it to you. Where in Ireland?

Yes it is odd, but what can I do.

Na. Did not have one to damage.

I wish. I have no one USA side that I know.

Good idea and you might be right. But the bumper does really finish the look off nicely.

oh wait. can you get a front bumper(different brand tractor) that is close to what you need and modify IT to fit ?
Same as above. Tried all the other brands also. Same ole line, "We have a policy that we dont ship to Ireland".

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

In case I may strike something and damage the front hood of the Craftsman, or worse. If I cants get a bumber. Could you imagine trying to get a new hood or front exhaust system.

I did. They receive about 20 Lawnmowers in a container at a time when they order from Craftsman. When they rang Craftsman in the states, they were told that they dont have a policy of shipping these items to Ireland. But they can ship containers of Lawnmowers. Very, very frustrating.

To top it all off. The Sears website and Sears Customer Service people say. "We are now shipping to Ireland and the currency changes to Euro and the Irish Flag then changes on the website to reflect Ireland as the destination".

But their International Shipping people say they cannot ship this part to Ireland as there is restrictions on weight and some items contain pressurised containers that they cannot ship on a plane. I asked them what was the weight restriction. They told me 48 pounds. I informed them that the part is only 16 pounds. They then said there is restrictions on pressurised containers. I informed them that I agree with that policy, but this is a bumper for a lawnmower and not a pressurised canister. Then they said ok and transferred me back to Customer Service and they then tried to raise they order and transferred me back to International Shipping and I spoke to someone else who gave the same lines above. I asked, for the fun of it, do you actually ship anything on a day to day basis to Ireland or Europe. They said no. So why do you have an International Shipping Department and why am I on the phone from Ireland for the last 30 minutes being charged international call rates to ring you. They said "I dont know sir". So I am not a troublesome person and I am polite and honest. But am I going mad. The year is 2011 and we can fly and go anywhere in the world. We can put a man on the moon and land vehicles on Mars but we cannot get a bumper for a lawnmower in a small box and label it for a courier and send it off.

Sounds pretty tough imo. Sears isn't very good here in the US either by the way.

If it were me I would recommend you buy local products with sales and service. Living in the US I can tell you Sears is always a last resort for me for anything.

FYI, what you need to find is an importer who will have a contact in the US that will buy the products and ship them across the pond. Typically these importers charge a nonimal fee for their time.

Thanks. I did approach a main importer that would have imported my machine in Ireland.
They say that get MTD, Craftsman shipped in on containers from the US. But they cannot get the parts that people look for. They say that none of the accessories are shipped out of the states.

The world has gone mad. Someone somewhere in Sears, MTD, Craftsman has made a business decision that we wont sell our accessories to Europe but we will sell the full machines less the nice things like bumpers ect.

Whomever made this decision must be mad. I dont know of any business that would make a policy like this. I can understand the states restricting certain items that could be used for terrisom. But I can assure you that I would not terrorise many people with a Craftsman Bumper but probably locked away in a padded cell.
