I have a Poulan Weed Eater VIP 14.5 HP Briggs engine 42" cut model number*130-405 riding mower. The mower PTO lever will not disengage and therefore the mower will not start or even move to take to the repair shop. Has anyone experienced a similar condition and what is the solution.
Thank you for any replies

If looking under the right side of the deck by the discharge you will see the brake arm that goes between the spindle pulley and the other end has a roller on it. The roller contacts a rotating plate(pivot arm in other words) that tensions the belt when you engage the deck.. The problem is the roller wears a notch in the rotating plate that acts like a detent. When detented the deck won't disengage.
It will be easier to see all of this if the deck is removed. and you will need to replace the arm, or I have in a pinch welded the plate back up and then ground it back down smooth.
