Hi my name is Jeremy I love small engines they are amazing I learned how to take apart carburetors and clean them and that sorta spurred my hobby for small engine repair. I also work for a big name mow company locally and then moonlight after with my own mow company. My biggest issue right now is learning how to fix governors where i get the mower to start than it surges to super high throttle then dies off :( and suggestions

Welcome to the forum from NY. I have found the best luck I have with governors is the lease I have to do with them the better. One of the major tools you will need is a good tachometer. I have found a governor's can be very touchy.

it seems as though every time I come across a governor problem (and it happens alot) its because the owner had just beat the hell out of it. And something came disconnected. I get lawn mowers for free off of CL I would like to know how to fix I can do just about anything else to little 4 strokes.

I sound to me like you have more of a linkage problem then a governor problem. I don't know what engine you are working with but most governors are internal. Like I said start with a good tachometer so you know what you are working with.

A couple of ideas to help in the future if you have a ream of paper and some ink. Tecumseh was a website (do a search) where you can download their manuals. These will give you a good start as to how to repair the major problems with their engines. After that you just start using what they say to other brands. Not always the same, but an excellent start. There are a lot of sites with manual, if you want to take the time, you could fill a bookshelf. Another place to find them is at the used bookstore.
