Just a short note before I dash out to begin work again. Been trying to catch up with a huge backlog of yard care tasks before the rain begins anew. Have had four or five days with none at all, got all 4 1/2 acres cut and trimmed, did LOTS of raking up clippings, got garden plot tilled for first time to turn over soil, have to go over it twice more. Been setting new posts around garden plot too. Will be installing 50 feet of new fencing soon.
Yesterday, finished a HUGE job on my old burn pile, so happy to have it done. Will post pics of that next time I log on.
No time for chit chat these days. Take care, all. JDG

Pics show burn pile as it was almost done smoldering back in January, notice the heaps of unburnt stuff at the ends (mostly grass clippings and small debris that got wet before the burning. Used my tractor loader bucket to back drag all the heaps of stuff and semi level it out. Then devoted about 6 hours using a rake and cultivator to smooth out the majority of the dirt and ashes, moved the unburnt clumps to the outside of the pile, then toted them over to the new burn pile about 35 feet away. A lot of the stuff I raked out could simply be thrown over, but a lot of it also had to be scooped up with a shovel and carried over. There must be a million nails in that pile from 20 years of burning, but thankfully I did not get any punctures, probably because the ground was so soft from all the rain last month. The weeds will now take over the plot and I will just mow around it. GLAD THAT IS DONE !!!:wink:
