Today is 93 F ambient, 1800 ft. Mowing dry short grass on medium grade. No bagger system today. Grass straight out chute. Tractor has oil cooler and fan. With fan on average oil temp 270F climbing very slowly to 285F. This happened twice in 1-1/2 hours. At 285F pulled into shade until oil temp dropped back to 270F. Today with the 3 bag system this tractor would have run at 300F+ and possibly self -destructed as it had done twice before installation of the oil cooler. Oil pressure maintained at 35PSI. FYI
Benski, What's great? We used to exchange opinions on oil. Do you still own a lot of Amsoil stock? :laughing:I am running my standard Chevron 10-30 auto oil. By the way on another thread where I rave on about accuracy of oil gauges I admit that mine is 15 -20 degrees high at e.g., 225F. This is in comparison to a K thermocouple. I won't know if the 280F-300F I saw last summer is accurate until next summer.
