I'm bored at work so I'll tell ya a short story about my Husqvarna.
5 years ago I was gifted a Husqvarna GTH2548XP with 100hrs on it. With more money than memory the owner didn't know what year it was but his original intentions when he bought it was to vacuum leaves on his .25 acre property. I guess it to be a 2005 or 2006 with the Kawasaki FH721V Engine. This machine sat outside its whole life never getting much use until one day a storm passed through; well Mother nature threw a tree at it. That was the final nail in the coffin for the original owner and he offered it up to me for free.
I got the machine back home and got to work on it.
First year: I pounded the metal hood back into shape. Removed the aux lighting. Ordered 4 new Carlisle tires, chinese air filter w/pre filter, chinese fuel filter, Kawasaki oil filter/fluid, NGK BPR4ES Plugs, and updated the incandescent bulbs to LED. Everything was great for the first year. Years end 130 hrs
Second year: the original Nikki Carb started acting up. I'm sure it had to do with the fuel I forgot to drain out of it. So I ordered up a chinese knock off and rebuilt the original using the cheap knock off parts. The headlights stopped working. Years end 160hrs
Third year: the steering arm ball joint broke so I got one ordered up and replaced. Did an alignment and all was good. Still no lights. Years end 195hrs
Fourth Year: The starter developed a few dead spots in it so I began hitting it with a 2x4. Worked good. No lights. Years end 230hrs
Current Year: This year it struggled to start and stay running, it appeared to be running lean and overheating. Clearly it needed a bit more attention so I decided to rebuild it with all new parts: 350ah battery, starter, Kawasaki coils, Kawasaki fuel filter, Kawasaki Oil Filter with fresh oil, Stens fuel pump, NGK plugs, All new Goodyear Kevlar belts, PTO clutch, pins, grade 8 bolts, cleaned terminals/ground wires, cleaned the engine fins of debris, greased the spindles, cleaned the carb, set valve lash @ .005 intake and .006" exhaust and sharpened the blades. The blades were hilariously dull. After some testing found the key switch failed so the lights don't. Ran some wires and a toggle switch to get the lights working.
So I recently read these FH engines were a bad design and to look for some kind of breather kit. I'm looking into it.
Hope this provided minutes of entertainment to another bored soul.
Any feedback or criticism welcome!
