I have a craftsman gt5000 model 917-276101. tractor seemed to lose power going up hill,so I replaced drive belt, with one from sears that I had in package for about ten years, its a light brown belt its 1/2 by 82 1/2 it seems better but not right .whats the best belt to use ,and how much tension should be on the belt ,it don't seem to me to be much, all idlers seem good also spring thanks its a hydro trans

I would actually suspect a weak hydro at this point. Need to change the hydraulic fluid in the unit. Sometimes that's pretty easy, sometimes you have to pull the tranny and take it apart. Might try cleaning the trans. and fan to keep it some cooler.
