Ya its old. I have been having issues with power and grass pickup and clumping in the deck. I pulled the deck and found that the blades are 21inch by 3 high lift, but they are doubled in a X configuration. i.e instead of 3 blades its 6. Recently cleaned the deck, put the blades back the way they werre, the blades and pullys seam to have a smooth operation prior to putting the deck back on. Re leveled per the owners guide.

The issue is when i start the mower the 26hp kholer runs good, but when the deck gets engaged its take s a bit to spin up. I think this may be just belt tension, i have to check and adjust that next. While running, and starting to cut, it immediately bogs down slowing the motor etc, and this is not high or tall grass at all. I did tighent the spindles with a impact driver, assuming that is ok? Any thoughts, comments. ? I have not checked to see if the blades spin freely and easily since i put the belts back on.

I had a similar problem with my 52 inch Great Dane. At first I thought it was the fuel filter because it was bogging down I thought it wasn't receiving enough fuel. I changed that and still the same thing. What I found out it wasn't getting enough air. Have you replaced the air filter? I took the cover off of the air filter cleaned the filter and let the mower run without putting the plastic cover on and than I put the cover on and has ran good since.

Hopefully that helps a little bit but these Great Danes are nice machines when there working

I did put a new air filter on it, but that was a few months back when i changed oil, spark plugs, fuel filter etc. After doing some more testing, I took the pulley from the motor off the deck, and the three blades and spindles spin freely, and without much efforts. I then tried to turn the electronic clutch and it is VERY hard to turn (don't know if I am turning the motor at the same time or not, but figured with the cluch disengaged prior to turning off the motor, i would think that would turn freely without a belt on it.

Never heard of Great Dane using 6 blades on 3 spindles. That extra weight would bog down the engine when you engage clutch. I would go back to 3 blades. 3 sharp blades will cut much better than 6 dull ones.
