This is my 2nd yr ownership of 42" Hustler Raptor and had to replace spindle the 1st yr. I've been studying how I might upgrade to greasable spindles. I inquired among several suppliers asking if I could retrofit a greasable spindle from another brand. No one answered. So I ordered a Husqvarna spindle with zerk in top of hollow shaft. Just looking at the Husqvarna, it appears that it will fit. In the event that the mandrel will not fit, the two shafts appear to have same dimensions and I succeeded in fitting the Husqvarna shaft in my Hustler spindle.

Has anyone attempted this fix?

No, but seems there was a thread a few months back about drilling in the middle of the spindle housing and tapping it and putting in a grease zerk.

Don't know if a search can find the thread.
