I have a 2001 riding Gravely 987070 16hp v twin Briggs. Battery does not seem to be charging. Battery tested good (one year old). Battery runs down when not in use. Terminals clean and tight.

If you have a multimeter/voltmeter set it to DC voltage 20.
Then with the mower running, put the + lead to + on the battery and - to -
You should get at least 13.00 volts if the battery is being charged by the generator.
Or it might be something else is draining it while sitting.

did you test battery yourself or remove it & take it to auto parts store for load test?
