Anything that touches the flat side of a single sided V belt should just be an idler or a tensioner, nothing should be powered of the flat side.

as the above person mentioned.. any pulley that is flat is mean to be used as a back side idler pulley. It has always been my experience that when using a back side idler pulley, buy the more expensive kevlar version of that specific belt to make sure the belt can handle the reverse bending.
