After grading I want to till in some compost and then restablish the grade, make it smooth and plant it. I have done it several times now in my yard and am still not sure the best way to do it. I have a tractor with box blade, a lawn roller, tiller, plug aerrator, and drag harrow like Cabella's sells. I just get the drag harrow thinking that is the solution to my final smoothing but since I found this forum I thought I'd ask.

I think I should just be grading, tilling in the compost, smooth it with the box blade again, roll it then take the drag harrow to it to smooth it then plant seeds and roll again. Have a figured out correctly how to do it yet or is there an easier better way?

Thanks,
John

Wow, that's a lot of work. One downpour and it's all undone anyway. Once the grading/composting is done, I generally just rough it up and throw the seed down. Cover it with straw and pray for light rain a couple of weeks.
