Okay, this is driving me nuts. I have a craftsman weed wacker and I am trying to replace the gas lines. Got one in but cannot fit the other thru the tank. Any ideas please? I have tried lube, trimming the end to a taper but it is not working

i always trim the end to a real sharp taper then use WD 40 and once i get it started i use a pair needle nose to reach into the tank and pull it through just did a craftsman over the weekend worked great

Thanks Scott,

I tried all that, even tried motor oil. The top line went in with not a lot of effort but the bottom line is a bear. I have the line sitting in the direct sun right now, maye that will allow it to collapse some. Thanks again.

I do this the same way. As Scott said, you need to cut a "LONG" taper. This is so when you insert it, the thinest part of the taper will be exposed on the inside of the tank where you can pull it through. Does your tank just have 2 small holes? or is it a removable grommet with 2 holes in "it"

Chance123, I sort of read past the" long" taper that Scott suggested. I didn't have enough end to grasp with a needlenose. I will trim the end to a sharper end and try again. Thank you for the suggestion. Oh yeah, the tank has 2 small holes.

Okay, I got it fixed. Turns out one of the holes was smaller than the other even though the replacement line is the same size and the connections are the same. I drilled out the smaller hole to the right size and all went well. Thanks to all who helped.

One hole was smaller because one of the fuel lines is indeed smaller than the other. One line OD is 3/16 the other OD is .140

to ILENGINE: Whoops! Well, it looked the same. I think I may have messed up. Thanks for the info.
