Anyone using the G-6 gator blades with the I guess new tips on there mowers? I've been using the G3 until now. The owner gave me the G6 and said they had been improved with a new reinforced 3 inch tip to hold a cutting edge longer and are a lot heavier than the G3. Just was wondering if anyone else was using them and how they were doing?

They do so so, ours still dull fast. Striping isn't as good. We're running them on our 52 and 61"

I'm running them one the 36" and just used them for the first time today and what a difference. Will see how long they go before they need to be sharpened. I can tell you there a lot more blade than the G3.

You said they are heavier. Will that shorten the life of your spindles/belt? Or makes the engine work harder I'm just curious

So far they've been ok, grease the spindles and have good commercial equipment, also balanced blades. They are heavy! We did question whether the engine works harder, I am curious on what my blade speed is with them.

The G3 blades are like 2 1/2" wide the G6 is like 3" wide and heavier made. I don't believe they will hurt the spindles/belt because the blade center of rotation hasn't changed. I can't speak for others but the weight of the blade itself is somewhat heavier than the G3 but it isn't that much heavier than the original blade so I don't see the blade tip speed being hurt or reduced by much if at all especially when you consider the amount of cutting surface being twice that of the G3 or the original blade.

Fortunately I don't have to worry about greasing anything like spindles and such on the GS although I do balance all my blades after sharpening. As far as the engine working harder, I'll know more after today because I'll be on the mower all day mowing. I know how much gas the lawns I'll do today use to take and I'll see what happens to the gas consumption.
