FS 45 cannot get the pull start to grip the cup when reinstalled

Gidday,

have had the back off my FS45 I'm sure I have not lost anything, reinstalled it, but now feels like
it wont grip in the alloy cup, is there a trick to putting these back together?
 
did you have the starter apart, if so is it possible that you put the metal clip that engages the pawls on backwards
