We have a 1998 Mountfield Empress 16 Hand Propelled mower (MPR10025) with Briggs & Stratton petrol motor (unknown designation).
After priming, the motor will start and run for a few seconds before cutting out. Recent air filter, spark plug, and fresh fuel for the new season cutting.
If I continue to feed the carburettor by pushing the primer while the motor is running, it continues to run. Obviously, this is a test only, and not practical for continued use.
I've looked online for a fix, and the suggestion seems to be that the carburettor is the issue, with a possible blockage or incorrect fuel/air mixture.
As I cannot locate the Briggs & Stratton reference, I'm unable to order any new parts.
Are you able to assist with locating the B&R motor reference, or anything that would assist with a strip, clean, and replace fix?
Kind regards.

Look above the spark plug on the air shroud..... It is stamped into the meatal.. You might have to clean it to make it out but it will have the model type and a code number....
If you have the engine I am thinking about... If not there then look at the air shroud above the muffler.............
