I have a 1996 or somewhere around there Exmark Ranger 3 wheel lawnmower that won't crank. I can spay it the breather and get it to crank but won't stay cranked. What should I check to see why?
Different words mean differently to people...you need to be specific in your explanation.
To me, cranking is the engine turning over.
starting is when ignition occurs, hopefully it keeps running....as needed for operation
You have a fuel delivery problem.
When you spray starting fluid into the air inlet you are bypassing the carb.
You need to determine why you carb is not working.
No gas in tank?
Water /contaminated fuel
Fuel shutoff valve closed?
Do you have a fuel shutoff solenoid on the bottom of carb that is not opening?(It should click when key is turned to run...you can hear it or put finger on it and feel it)
Are the jets inside the carb stopped up?
Everyone here needs full engine information to tell you much else.
