Exmark Phazer dies when PTO engaged. help please!

following usual procedure yet it wants to die when PTO engaged. Im thinking its a safety switch issue. Anyone dealt with this before??

Spend $ 5.00 on an inline spark tester.
Pop it on a plug and watch what happens when you engage the PTO.
If it stops sparking then you have a safety switch problem.:confused2:
