Engine stalls

Hi
I have a lawn mower engine 3.5 hp
its hard to start
when it starts up it runs
then slows down more and more until the mower stops working

Mostly likely time for a carb rebuild/cleaning, but first, start it up and when it starts to die, loosen the gas cap and see if it returns to normal.
Engine brand and model numbers will be very helpful.

the lawn mower is a Tecumseh 3.5 hp
Lev 90

can it possibly be the fly wheel key for the timing
when it does start it runs for about a minute then the Rpm
starts to slow down slower and slower and slower
then it stalls and does not want to start
then I try to start it over and over again then it starts
and repeats the cycle that I mentioned above .

Possible, but not likely usually when The key shears it either backfires and pops or doesn't start at all.
But if a carb clean/ or rebuild doesn't fix it, I might suspect it. Have you got anything with the mower lately? Like a large limb or rock?
