Electric or Gas?

I currently have a 2006 Toro Recycler Personal Pace, model 20017 with a 6.5 hp Tecumseh. It's currently leaking oil all around the engine block. I was quoted $100 minimum to fix it. It's either a breather tube, main engine seal or both.

I'm debating whether to sell or buy new. I hoped to get 10 years out of the Toro before having to fix it. I changed the oil, air filter and spark plug every season. I hate sinking $100 into a $300 mower already.

I have a 1/4 acre lawn. Minus the house, 3-season porch, deck, landscaping and shed it's quite a bit less. Yesterday it took me about 40 min to mow it on the mulch setting. Although I prefer to bag.

I'm looking at Greenworks models 25302 and 25223 at Lowes. If I were to stay with gas I'm leaning towards something with a Honda engine. I do like the Toro Personal Pace system but I'm not against pushing the mower myself. God knows I could use a little exercise. My front lawn is sloped at about 30 degrees though.

The electric mower is appealing if I can mow on a single charge. I like the idea of no gas, no exhaust stink, no maintenance and quiet.

I don't want to spend more than $400.

Looking forward to your advice.

WELCOME to these Forums...

With the size you have to mow, Electric would be the Only thing I would consider for every reason you have mentioned... :smile:KennyV
