When was the first electric mower used . I recall one in the 1950's , I never used it but I have the switch of one of about that era that turns my old table saw on and off . I thought it appropriate because the T S is a 1947 Sears Roebuck that I can turn on and off with my knee .

Found this on the internet which is always 100% accurate.

  • 1920s-1930s: The first electric mowers began appearing on the market, primarily as corded models.
  • 1950s: Advancements in electric motor technology made them more powerful and efficient.
  • 1960s: Introduction of hover mowers by Flymo.
  • 1980s: Cordless models powered by lead-acid batteries entered the market.
  • 2000s-Present: Lithium-ion battery-powered mowers revolutionized convenience, power, and eco-friendliness.

Many of the Lithium-ion battery powered mowers are still going strong after years of service. The trouble is, many of the batteries cost more to replace than just buying a new mower.

Aside from that, all batteries have a limited number of charge cycles before they are depleted.

The level of recycling and ground contamination from this new "green technology" is still yet to be determined.
