Working on an echo SRM-230 weed trimmer. It starts and idles great. Problem is, just doesn’t rev up. I Change the carb ,fuel lines , clean exhaust port and screen, replaced the spark plug. Has 110 lbs of compression. No matter what you do adjusting the high doesn’t make a difference. My question is , would a faulty coil have anything to do with keeping it from throttling up ? It starts right up on two pulls cold and one pull when warm.

Zama RB-K70(A) Carb but depending on the serial could be a K66 but K66 is fixed jet version.
Check the metering lever setting and that metering diaphragm is not stiff. Also if both carbs are used ones the main adjustment screw may be clogged.

Star Tech , It’s a Zama K66B carb. I bought a new Hipa carb off Amazon. I did notice when I throttle up seems like some fuel wetness coming from the exhaust screen. I Figure maybe coil not burning it off or the meter valve not set right from the factory. I contacted the company through amazon they stated they will be giving a full refund and told me to keep the carb. But that doesn’t solve my problem.

The new carb is a Zama K66B RB2. Very doubtful it’s dirty. It could be that metering valve set a little high letting to much fuel into the combustion chamber. that would explain wetness around the exhaust screen. This echo driving me crazy.
Yes the exhaust port and screen is clean. Even started it with the muffler off. Still didn’t rev. So more likely the exhaust is not the problem.

You bought an OEM Zama carburetor from Hipa and Amazon online? You state it is a Zama. You probably meant it cross references to that Zama. Thoroughly clean and replace screen, and metering diaphragm in the OEM Zama carburetor and install on trimmer. If you can’t do this properly, take it to a shop.
Yes a replacement for the Zama from hipa. I have been working on my own stuff for 30+ years including chainsaws and riding mowers. The kit is more money then the replacement carb. I have bought hipa carbs in the past without any issues. I suppose it could happen a defective carb. You mention taking it to a shop,problem is it will cost more to repair than what it’s worth.
