You can't use that one on a trimmer. But there is a pro attachment series one where you can attach a trimmer, edger, etc. to the engine and shaft.

Echo does make the unit that goes with there power head PAS-280 28.1cc power source. The two pieces together cost like $640.00. The BRD-280 itself cost $599.00 and is not inter changeable. So unless you're going to use the PAS system with other attachments the BRD-280 is a little cheaper.
