I put a new belt on my craftsman 917256522 lawn tractor but it lurches when let out clutch and throws belt off all belt keepers look to be in correct position

Need to make sure you have correct belt and double check belt routing. The routing picture may be on the bottom of the left foot rest, or in the owners manual.

the belt is correct I got it at sears, and I routed it properly

it also lurches when let out clutch even if done slowly its like your try to do a holeshot

MY SEARS STORE KEPT GIVING ME A PLASTIC PULLEY THAT HAS A DEEP VEE IN IT , ITS MADE OF PLASTIC LIKE ORIGINAL THEY GOT SOME NEW METAL ONES IN THAT APPEARS TO HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM THE PLASTIC ONES KEPT CRACKING.
