Mower is dry, grass is dry, hasn't rained in several days. Even mowing in the heat of the day, bright and sunny out and it still clogs. What the hell is going on here? It's starting to piss me off.

Engine running fine? Bag cleaned up? the bag has poures that need to be cleaned regularly to help with the "vacumn effect".

Otherwise are you cutting to long of grass to thick if so you might want to raise it up and cut it twice

Engine runs smooth and it has no bag. Side discharge. The grass isn't even long either.

Ok then I would look at the blade type and I would consider getting a highlift blade?

It's a normal blade, sharpened it over the winter.

Not to look like an idiot but what does a high lift blade do (besides cut grass)?

Makes the grass stay at the top of the deck and circulates it fast with a side dishcharge it would shoot the grass out further and better

High lift blade is used for bagging or mulching. Clogging at the discharge chute normally is caused by too low a setting on ground height. Raise your deck and it should solve the problem.

Xman, Assume you have pried loose accumulated dried "adobe" grass at the discharge opening . I have never had clogging out the side chute with the 48' deck and original hi lift blades. I have to resort to side discharge just now because of heavy , steady spring rains and no drying time. My deck runs all the way up at 6"
