Is there really a benefit to the different types of mulches out there? What is the differences in the colors besides curb appeal, what about pine versus cedar, any difference?
The best type of mulch depends on your situation, of course. Gravel comes in many colors and sizes, doesn't break down very quickly, and pretty much stays put in a flat area. Wood chips and shredded cedar mulch are better at helping retain moisture. If you have pine needles readily available that you can gather up, it's very low cost. Pros and cons to all of them.
