I have an old Duetz Allis 612H thar I replaced the Eaton model 7 hydrostatic transmission with a used one. It's doing fine a bit noisier than the original but smooth. The fluid is a little dark and I'd like to change it. I'm not sure where to drain it or where to refill it. I'm told I can use 20 weight oil for the refill. Anyone have any info?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh .. a morning controversy .
At this point, it seems as if a synthetic 5-50 engine oil is best ....DO secure a consensus..
My idea , if you have a reservoir, is to use the wife's turkey baster to suck out as much as possible and then refill .. do this several times ..There is another recent similar thread on this ...Here, to renew the fluid, the transmission must be removed !

It has 2 plugs one on top and one on the bottom. I didn't know if the bottom one was a drain and the top was a refill point. I'm afraid to take them out and have Springs and other pieces and parts come flying out.
