Deck gaurds installed on HRX w/pics

The deck guards came in last week. I finally got around to installing them today. According to the directions/measurements the deck guards extend slightly lower than the nexite deck (probably 1/16 or 1/32"). I did the best I could to keep from getting a gap between the deck. Here are a couple pics.

Hi stygz

Those guard look very good and i don't think that little bit of hand down will hurt, should help protect the deck on the bottom from breakage to. :licking::licking::licking:

Thats what I was thinking. Probably a good thing they extend down some

They look too low to me. I think the center of the hole is supposed to be 5/8" up from the bottom. Yours looks more like 3/8".

I used a tape measure not a caliper. It may be easier to mark the 5/8" with a caliper. Both sides came out the exact same.

You can tell the difference between 5/8" and 3/8" from that photo?

Your photo didn't tell me the difference between 3/8" and 5/8".
How I came up with 3/8" is because I just installed a set and they are 3/16" above the bottom of the deck. Add my 3/16" above to your 1/16" below and you have a 1/4" difference. 1/4" from 5/8" equals 3/8".
So that is how I assumed that you drilled the hole closer to 3/8" above the deck bottom and not 5/8".

So glad I found this post as I have been looking for a picture of what these look like installed.

So now that they have been on for a while, what do you think?

So, they're deck guards. So what do they guard against? Scratches from brushing against walls?

Oh. I don't have that stuff. I have walls, though. I don't think I'll install them.

I think a front deck guard would be more helpful to more people.

Aw come on:eek: Other than a spark arrestor, what other "accessories" can we install on our HRX's? Think about it. I'm sure you could find SOMETHING to run into:smile:

I'd opt for having a remote start with digital passcode, rpm/tach gauge, oil temp, valve chamber temp and degree spark advance. Essentially, a full gauge setup discretely tied into mower handle. Such a gauge package would have flash storage with a USB port so you can replay such on your pc.

Some Snapper mowers have a digital monitor on the handle with the time of day, hour meter, and when it's time to change your oil, etc. That's a start, but I don't know how long the display would hold up with all of the vibrating!

That just convinced me to order a set of those for myself. I just picked up a HRX217HYA and I have a ton of the really rough landscaping bricks in my yard around my flower beds and such. LOVE that mower by the way. I've always been a snapper guy, then I stumbled across this on Craig's list. Very very little use, a old man owned it previously. The price was very good, and I couldn't have passed on it.

Lawn looks nice. Judging by your cut length, is that Bermuda grass?

For a couple of other "tune-up" parts (for gcv160's)there is a 2 stage (with foam pre-cleaner)air filter kit that is direct fit, and the gxv190 alloy cast valve cover that bolts right up, nice.

Short of calling Honda does anyone know the part number for the guards? The dealer I bought it from wasn't familiar with them and I guess I could get them to order a pair, it's just a 1.5 hr drive each way. Tried Northern T and that was a joke. I saw were someone ordered them from boats .net but that was years ago and I do not see it. Thx in advance!

Dang I always forget about google, there are many places that sell them. The part number is 06761VH7000AH Deck Edge Guard Kit, for future reference.
