So I got my RER and after a about a month of mowing with it I'm coming to the conclusion it cuts to low.

I cut with the deck all the way up and it is cutting the grass at about 2". I normally cut at 3.5"

Is there a way to raise the deck higher? I have been reading on the service manual, and not seeing anything. Did I miss something?

Oh, I have a 33" 5 series. extra tough.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Tom

That sounds really high.

I have been running RER Snappers since a child. There is only one "master" adjustment to height, and it's the hangars on the back of the deck. Depending on your model, the style varies. It's primarily designed so you can level the deck for your "standard" cutting height of choice. The front has a more permanent design, no adjustments.

I am not so sure about your 5 series; is your model old? My old '92 1992 Snapper 301413KVE is a series 13. It has two metal cables that I adjust by adding or deleting bushings from the hangar.

EDIT: I see the pics in the Snapper forum now of your machine. It looks like your rear hangars are a combination of chain and eyelet bolts. You may adjust by running up the threads on the eyelet bolts or even taking a link out of the chain. Check your front hangars as well, as a previous owner may have fabricated a replacement part there that may be a little extra long, or something.....

So after playing around and wading through the owners/service manuals I found that there is a rod on the right side of the deck. It is a 1/4 or so thick rod that is threaded at the back and as you turn the nut to make it shorter it raises the front of the deck and then all you have to do is adjust your chains to level out the back of the deck with the front.

When at the lowest setting my deck is setting on the garage floor, so I need to get it lifted up to proper height. (1 inch)

Just want to put this info on here incase anyone else gets a mower with the deck to low.

Thanks,

Tom
