Make sure the disengage rod has not been set for the side that is not working. Each drive motor has a pull rod usually at the rear under the unit.

IF you are referring the bow tie cotter pin.

BOW TIE COTTER PIN 1/4-5/16 Pin Size .072 Wire Size.

It is a Bow-72, MTD 714-04040, or Husqvarna 532194208 depending on the shop. Just about any lawn mower shop should have them. Heck I got near a 100 generic version on shelf here. A lot easier to remove and install then the Rue Ring version which I am starting to see.

This had the old cup style that gets ruined when you take it off. I don't think this rod has a drilled end and I will have to take it out to drill it. I have lot's of the bow style.

Then what you describe is a push nut. I remove them without damaging them most times.

I actually have the 5/16 and 7/16 version in stock here as I need for repairs here. They are so cheap that a lot of the time I double up on them.

any idea where i can find the phony clip that goes onto the rod?
They are push on speed clip retainers

Sometimes you can find them at a NAPA or a parts store that has selector boxes of various sizes. Occasionally they can be found at a good hardware store.

A good small engine shop would have them, if one can be found in your area.

It helps to remove the pull rod, if possible, to make sure you get the correct size.

Buying a bulk pack on Amazon is a waste of money unless you have a shop and can use them regularly.
