I bought this mower 5-6 years ago from Home Depot because it was a well built mower and I figured to get a lot of years of use from it. Problem is it has always been hard to pull when starting the engine. It only takes 1-2 pulls for it to start but as I mentioned it is hard to pull and usually jerks back when pulling it. Any suggestions on how to correct this or is this something I just have to live with. Not as young as I used to be and it isn't any fun to start no matter how good the mower might be. Mower probably has 30 hours of use max due to this problem. Had to buy another mower that is easy to start for my wife to use because she can't start the Cub.

http://www.cubcadet.info/Manuels/2008/LAWN_MOWERS/OWNERS/12A-18MC010-CC550_Ow_08.pdf remove spark plug boot for SAFETY, lay mower on its side with carburetor side up & see if underside of deck needs to be cleaned, inspect blade & mount bolts for being tight. Post all numbers from engine data plate.
