I just acquired a cub cadet 12a-18m7010. Needed a self propelled because my knees are going bad. Everything works on it, but the spring lever (height adjustment lever) is broken off. I've found the part, but I can't figure out how to get the drive gear off to get to it. It just spins. I can't see any way to hold it. The shaft has a sleeve on it. I know there's a trick to it and I don't want to tear anything up. I can't find a tutorial online telling how to do it. Anyone had experience with this?
