I have a coworker with an older 1420 with a PTO issue. The original PTO flew apart, so we replaced it, as well as the switch and the relay. But when we went to get it running, the PTO will not engage. It will "click" but not engage. The mower had previously set for at least 2-3 years and it had been a "nest" for rodents as evidenced by what they left behind. So.....with that said, we have checked for power and it has power at the switch and to the relay, but nothing is going to the PTO. What should we look for next? As always, we really appreciate the help we get!

It the battery good and fully charged?

What is clicking? The PTO switch when you pull it out?
Is power getting to the PTO clutch?

Does the mower start?

Yes, it starts fine. The original PTO switch was bad, so we replaced it. The click it coming from the new relay but no power is getting to the PTO.

try using a jumper wire direct to the clutch from the battery to see if it will engage,to confirm the new clutch is working. if it is then you will have to follow the wiring back and find where the wiring has lost its power......
