How much back pressure, if any, should be present in a Honda HRR216 mower? I inadvertently withdrew the oil dipstick while the engine was running.....big mistake as the mist of oil coming from the opening made a big mess.

hope you shut it down immediately, just add oil to full mark & give it a go, Honda's are tough durable engines!

Well if you stop to think about it for a minute, the piston goes down exactly the same distance as it goes up so it will pump the same volume of gas down as it does up.
There are valves on the top but none on the bottom so the engine will try to pump double the volume under the piston as it does on the top as you get a crankcase compression on every stroke.
The gas is going to take the easiest path and that is up the dip stick tube.
No problem for the engine unless the engine ran out of oil.
