Greetings from KY, I’ve recently bought a good running rider and would like to start bringing her back to glory, problem is the model and serial number tag under the seat is faded, I narrowed it down to three possible models from pictures on the web but each model has different part numbers on sears direct and that’s only if those pictures were labeled properly, I was hoping one if you know beyond a doubt what model this is and maybe a rough guess on year? It’s a craftsman 42” 19.5 B/S 6 speed Riding mower, pictures below.

If you post all the numbers on your engine, ( Model, Type, Code ) we should be able to figure within a year of when it was made, the model of the machine will be difficult unless another member comes forth that may have one .........
Thanks for the reply, I’m so frustrated trying to get replacement parts without knowing the model of the mower, the engine numbers as follows model: 42E707 Type: 2631E3 Code: 0003025b I’ve put pictures of it here too. I also added a picture of the peerless tecumseh transaxle ID sticker if it helps

According to the Engine code, ... your engine is a 2000 model, Mfg. on March 2nd. , so your mower ..SHOULD be a 2000 but possibly.. a 1999 .

Trying to find the mower model will be difficult, unless another member pipes in, I will try to find out what I can, BUT no promises, also back then, manufacturers continued the same model (but with some changes for several years,) engine parts should be available in good supply. Sears USUALLY has parts for a lot of older models but you're 18 yrs. old !
Try making a NEW post in the Craftsman Forum, such as... ( HELP with Model ID for 2000 Craftsman ) explain it has no ID sticker that it has a Briggs eng. model, ( ****** ) etc.
Actually what Boo meant was a 2000 or 2001 model.
Hard to sell a mower on the promise of an engine latter on :confused2:
Now here is a little trick that works surprisingly well.
Gently wash the dirty mower tag.
Take the mower outside in strong light.
With a digital camera which will work a lot better than a phone, take a 1/2 dozen photos at the highest resolution you have at a variety of angles to the ID tag.
Load them up on your computer then adjust the contrast and the number will jump out at you.
If that does not work invert the colours ( called make negative in some apps ).
Sunlight will have caused the background to fade a lot more than where the type used to be.
Your eyes can not read white on nearly white but to a camera they are as different as black to white.
but I cant get it to download diagrams ..... soooooooo ..... I found this.. you will have to download the manual, it should be close enough to YOUR mower that the parts will fit ..... Actually there were 4 mower models 91727077 , 91727078, 91727081, & 91727082 I only searched for the "77" model when YOUR engine model showed up,
I appreciate your guys help very much, I cleaned the tag up and still couldn’t see anything until I took a picture and adjusted the brightness and b/w settings and hues, not sure how to make it a negative but I can just barely make out the model and serial the model says 917.270913 I put the picture here in case anyone knows how to turn it into a negative for confirmation, but I’m confident enough in it to start buying parts, I’ll get it back to near new condition soon! Thank you again I wouldn’t have found it without your guys help!

The 2 models are very close to each other but one has a cup holder. One with cup holder is 913. The one without cup holder is 813. You do not have a cup holder.
