Craftsman rear wheel drive mower

Good day all. I have a Craftsman rear wheel belt drive mower. I am seeing myself more and more having to push it instead of the mower doing the bulk of the work. I already replaced the rear belt but still doing the same thing. Any suggestions what to look at?

Maybe a cable adjustment? The cables typically stretch with use.

I went ahead and did a cable adjustment and still feel the same speed as when I would pull the throttle cable all the way back. Now with the cable adjustment, it just engages quicker. Any other suggestions? Thanks
