Bought a USED Craftsman LT2000 Tractor for my Father for FATHERS DAY. The Original Tractor came with a 17 HP Engine Model #917.273140 - the original engine blew so it was replaced with a 20 HP Kohler V-Twin Engine by original owner. Problem now is that after the motor starts the starter stays engaged and makes a terrible noise. There is a constant 12 Volts on the starter even after shutting off the engine and the starter gets super hot. I've already replaced the ignition switch with a NEW one. Seems to be a wiring issue or something. I've replace the internal fork in the starter since it was burn't up and melted so the starter is working properly but still making a horrible noise. Was thinking maybe putting a couple spacer washers on starter and block but that would not explain the starter still getting SUPER HOT. Is there anything else I can try? Anybody out there have the same problem or do you think the wiring harness is not compatible with this engine. Looks like the previous owner cut and bypassed the blue wire that links to the wiring harness with the main RED "HOT" Wire. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don't know what else to try? Maybe relays?????
