craftsman 917.275010 gt3000 transaxle used

Well it finally went after years of service. So I am faced with new lawn tractor or used trany.
I figure the used trany will be cheaper, so the trany its self has a number on it of 161823, the model number of the tractor is 917.275010. The manual states the part number should be a 174742 trany that they no longer make and is not available through them.
Can any one out there lead me to a place were I can get the information t0 locate one used trany.

Craftsman never made anything except a profit.
As it is already broken, you are not going to make it worse so clean off the outside real good and pull it apart

Being a mechanical box the culprit will be obvious.
