Hi,

I have a Craftsman 19.5 hp. ride-on mower. I was cutting my lawn, today, and all was working perfectly until, suddenly, my blades stopped. The mower kept going as normal, no noises to worry about, but no blades rotating.

I stopped and released the handle that engages the blades (manual clutch). As I released the handle there was a sharp quick noise coming from the clutch area. I tried to engage the blades a few times after this and found each time that it made that same loud noise as I released the handle to dis-engage the blades.

Do you think the clutch unit is gone or is there something else causing this? If the clutch is gone, is it a big job to fix it?

Thank You,

Tom.

First thing to check would be the belt, Is it in good condition and on all the pulleys. With the manual engagement system you don't have a clutch, You have a cable that pulls an idler arm to tension the belt. Make sure the cable is working correctly, and that the spring on the bottom isn't broken.

Dang........ I hate to say this....... But you might actually have to bend down and take a look at your mower!!!!! You might to
even have to look at and post your mower's and engine's model numbers, so we can have any idea of what you have. If you
ask for help online, you have to at least try to help us to help you.....
