coleman powermate 1850 model pm0401853.02 won't start

I have been a mechanic, technician and instructor for most of my career, and I cannot begin to tell you how many times equipment has lied when testing.

In my career, I've probably thrown away more testers than most people have ever owned due to false results that sent me in circles.

When it comes to test equipment, the price and brand are secondary to reliability.

Years ago, in the contact points and condenser days, we would just rock the flywheel magnet back and forth in front of the coil while holding the plug lead. If it made the muscles in your forearm jump, the coil was considered good enough to fire the spark plug. I do not recommend that with a modern coil/magneto because the KV level is much higher.
