CMM1000 Charge Indicator Always Green, Gauge in Y/R when mowing

CMM1000, "type" unknown. This is a first ten mower I have had for >15 years. Had to replace batteries once previously. I have newer B&D batteries in the mower. Charge light says green but when I run it, the gauge indicates yellow for a few minutes, then goes to red and will not cut grass at all well (as you would expect). Suggests charging is not actually occurring. Looking for troubleshooting guides or past experiences that may help diagnose. Would like to fix before the new batteries are beyond charging...

If you took advantage of the CMM1000 recall, wouldn't you now have a CMM1200?

I have the same problem. I found black wire broken that goes from battery neg to circuit board it seems to be a very small solid wire and not a normal wire half way under white sheath. Can not find information on why this wire is made this way and if I splice a small wire in that position if that will work. I wonder if a diode or rissistor should be there.
